She's Already Stealing My Clothes

Last time we took Tillie to church I dressed her in a brown cardigan. Quite a number of people said, "he" and "boy". A bigger number than I would like... Today I almost pulled a green dress out of her closet, then decided I needed a full-on girly dress. Looking in her closet I found pretty much the girliest dress she has. It also happens to be my first dress.

Channeling her inner "Uncle Rico"

This of course called for a photo shoot. She almost tipped over at one point, but she's still cute! And, you can see this face that she makes a lot. I think it's adorable. (But, I think that's my job as her mom!)

Um, a little help here!

Plus, I can't resist adding this picture Tim took of her cute little foot yesterday!

Ah, my freakin' kidney!

(bonus points if you know where the title of this post is from)

Yesterday I took Tillie to the doctor's office to get weighed again. She's now 7lbs 5oz! She's gained an ounce a day, which is what they expect so she's doing great.

I was talking to the nurse about the fenugreek and how it seems to be working, but I don't smell like maple syrup. I also told her that last year when I took an antibiotic that had a side effect of orange urine. Mine stayed it's normal color.

She said that probably I just have really good kidneys and it gets rid of all that.

Sweet. I have awesome kidneys.

Also, KC, Amy and Ki came over last night!

It give milk and cookies a whole new meaning.

At Tillie's two week doctor's check-up we discovered that she'd only gained 1 oz since she left the hospital. The doctor recommended that I supplement with formula every other feeding and do things to increase my milk supply.

I went out that day and bought Fenugreek. It's an herb that boosts milk supply, but also makes you smell like maple syrup. Sadly(?), I haven't been smelling like pancakes like I was told I would.

Tillie, however, was thriving on her new addition. After a few feeds with formula, she was back to her birth weight on Saturday!

I was talking to my online friends and was recommended a cookie recipe. This oatmeal cookie recipe has been used by many to increase milk production. So, I spent my holiday making Lactation Cookies.

Well see if this helps!

She really likes pizza.

Hooray for carseats!

Since Tillie is sleeping somewhere other than my lap, I might as well actually make a post with words!

She's actually a good easy baby, but what 2 week old wouldn't rather be in mom's arms than a cradle, crib, bouncy seat or swing?

A few people have asked how we picked her name. We had two girl first name/middle name combinations going into delivery. We actually didn't name her til about 5 minutes or so after she was born. I decided that other name we had seemed like a dark haired girl, so Matilda Jean it was!

I've always liked the name Matilda. Tim liked it too, and it was easy to win him over when I reminded him it was in a camp song. (Waltzing Matilda) Jean was my Grandma DeYoung's middle name and I've always planned on naming my first daughter after her. (My computer baby's name in high school was Kyle Jean Lindsay Heidi Jane!) As it ended up, I married Tim whose mom's middle name is Jean. So, using Jean was an easy choice.

Tillie is the nickname that Tim and I liked the best. If she changes her mind and wants to go by Tilda, Mattie, Matilda, Jean, or whatever, she'll get to make that choice on her own later. My name doesn't really have any nicknames and I always wished it did so I wanted my kids to have nickname options.

It's a Girl!

Matilda Jean was born today at 7:23pm

Tillie is 6lbs 15oz and 20 in.

She's adorable! Pictures to come. (Right now, I'm going to sleep!)

Changing table fail.

The lady who we were going to buy the changing table from thought she was going into labor yesterday, so I didn't get to go. As it turns out, she didn't.

I had already found a few at garage sales today, so I checked those out this morning. Nope.

So, I guess we might call Sunshine back and see if we can go tonight. (Yes, her name is Sunshine.)

Baby Furtniture

The rocker glider that we ordered is going to be delivered on Saturday. I'm so excited. It's super-comfy!

Also, tomorrow afternoon my mom and I are going to look at a changing table that I found on Craigslist. Kizie has a half day tomorrow for Tulip Time, so they have the afternoon free!

Hooray!

In other news, Kizie says we should buy mom a lamp for Mother's Day because the one they have is janky. I don't think I can pick out a lamp...

Vintage Postcards

On our wedding day, we had a lot of pictures taken downtown. A few were right around the Civic Auditorium. On our weekend honeymoon up north, I bought an old postcard of the Civic with the idea of framing it with some of the pictures taken. I hoped they would turn out. They did.

(I didn't take the time to upload these from the disk, so they're stolen from facebook. Hence the weird quality and size. Sorry! If you click on them, they will get bigger.)

This weekend I finally got around to hanging the pictures. But, can I find the postcard? Not a chance! I've looked everywhere I thought I kept it. For the longest time it just hung out on the entertainment center in the living room until I decided I would put it somewhere I would remember so it would be safe.

Fail.

The frames look awesome though! I have the one of both of us as a 5x7 in an 8x10 sized floating frame. Hanging on the other size of the window is a long vertical floating frame with 4x6 size photos of each of us. In the middle is suppose to be the postcard; instead it's just a weird mark of white paper where I couldn't get the tape off.

*sigh* I'd like to find the one I bought on the honeymoon, but I'm pretty sure I won't find it until I buy a new one.

I think I might go to an antique store today.

38 weeks

I'm on PTO until the baby is born (or unpaid leave if LuLu makes a late appearance). Now that I'm not working, I'm okay with a little wait -- it will be nice to have some free time. I think I might plant some flowers tomorrow and make a stop at Babies R Us.

I know. It's a hard life. (Actually, sitting on the ground to plant the flowers might be kind of hard...)

38 weeks

38 weeks

We hung up the closet curtain and a picture frame today. I also put together the bouncy seat! Since we've been in a "house finishing" mode, we also hung up two picture frames in our bedroom. Yes, it's been a year and a half or so, but there are finally things on the walls!

Oh, in related news -- we'll let you know if we've had the baby. If I haven't been online in a while or you haven't heard from me -- it's probably because I'm out enjoying my last child free moments. I think there might be WiFi at the hospital. Also, I have your phone numbers and e-mail addresses. You'll know.

People say strange things.

Today a woman working at the deli counter asked me what I was having. When I said we didn't know she replied, "You know, it's nice for the grandparents to know because then they can find better deals."

My poor mother - doomed to pay more for things because I didn't find out the gender. How inconsiderate of me...

Tim said my favorite quote of the day:

"Edward Cullen is the perfect man! Except he doesn't look like Usher." - Tim Leugs

He's got a point. Usher is quite possibly the world's most gorgeous man.
