Camp, 2014

Here's our traditional Opening Day family picture.

Welcome to Escanaba!

I've been spending part of the summer at Camp every year since 2008.  This is the first year where we are living some place we have already lived.  I'm happy about that.  I love this apartment.

I've rearranged nearly everything from how we had it last year, including switching bedrooms around.  We have a full size(ridiculously heavy!) couch this year, so it didn't fit where we had it last year.  I like this new set up a lot.

We still have a full size fridge!  Hello popscicles!  The floor looks ridiculously dirty, but those are really scrape marks from moving things like the world's heaviest wooden couch.

There was no shower curtain when we moved it, so I let Tillie pick one out at Target.  Thankfully she picked the same one I would have picked!

This year Tim and I have the back bedroom.  It's a hair bigger than the other rooms.

I wanted the extra space because I decided to take my sewing machine to Camp this year!  So far I've made Tillie a new Camp dress and a pair of ruffle pants.

Tillie has the other room off the living room, the same room she had last year.  I put her bed in a different location.  It gives her a better area for playing.  Tim had to repair the top bunk, but it's now all fixed for when Julie stays over.

My mom found this doll house at a consignment sale for a few dollars.  It's a great size for Tillie's Lalaloopsies!

The hallway to Ted's room is also the kitchen.

Teddy's room is bigger than his room at home.  It's weird to me to have a "nursery" with so much space!

He has the same dresser as last year, which is awesome because it makes a great changing table.

I had great plans to decorate their rooms more this year, but it hasn't happened yet.  I thought of another good idea today, so who knows what will happen in the next few weeks. If I do what I have in mind I'll be sure to post pictures.

Here's our traditional family picture on Opening Day.

Hot, Hot. Hot

And I'm not talking about Jamaica. ;)

It's been a hot week at Camp.  I'm very much looking forward to the low of 59* that's predicted for tonight. It has meant that we've spent bunk time at the water front most days.
I know.  My kids are the cutest. Ever.

It's also meant that nap times are messed up.  This makes bedtimes get messed up and night time sleep is not great.  I'm tired.  I'm hopeful that the cooler temps help the schedule get back to normal.

Family, 2012

The annual family photo on the porch of the Nature Center.

Have I ever written about what I do with theses pictures?  When we got married, I started a photo album our first Christmas.  I put our Christmas card in it.  Every year I add another one.  It's a simple idea, but it's fun to see how our family changes each year.  On Tillie's first summer at Camp I decided to start another one.  We had a picture of just Tim and I from our first summer at Camp, so it was easy to start another album.  I'm not much for scrapbooking, but one photo twice a year is doable!

Camp, Sweet Camp

We're all moved in.  At least as well as we're going to be.  Want to see where we'll be living for the next month and a half?

Escanaba.
Yep, it's my 5th summer at Camp and my 5th apartment.  I like to think of it as a circle tour.  This year we're up on Girls' Hill in an apartment under a camper cabin.

The living room.
Full size fridge!  This was a welcome surprise for me.  It will be nice to have popsicles for the kids when it's 90*.  See that fire alarm?  Tillie pulled it within 10 minutes of being at Camp Friday.  We still have to get a new glass rod for it.  This place could really use some artwork.  I'll see what Tillie can do for me in that department.

Bathroom.
Yup, that's Tillie's potty chair.  We're attempting to potty train.  She's actually doing really well.

Teddy's room.
He does have a window and a closet, it's just not pictured.  He'll mostly just sleep here, so it's not too exciting.

Tillie's room.
She has a bunk bed.  Tim's cousin Julie will be sharing with her when she comes to visit.  I got Tillie's quit for only $18 from Target.com!

Kitchen.
Okay, it's only a sink and a microwave.  But, a microwave!  Another surprise.  You may also remember that last year I didn't have a real sink.  This will be so nice.

Our room.

Home

Home, Sweet Air-conditioned Home.

Yesterday was a hot day.  Tillie still insisted we play outside.

Today is a hot day.  I have nearly everything Tillie wore for the last week hanging on the clothes line.

My mom and Kizie came to help me pack everything up.  Then they took us to the Bakery for lunch.  Tillie chose to color.  I chose to eat a hot dog and french fries.

We'll miss our friends and family at Camp, but I'm happy to be home.  Even if there are about 10 loads of laundry for me to do here.

Pictures

We're almost done with our time at Camp.  It's been a good summer, but I'm about ready to be back at home.
The camp media manager/photographer this summer is Dave Ribbens.  He took a few pictures of Tillie and I randomly that I convinced him to send to me.  I mean, how cute is this girl?  I needed to have a 'copy' of this one.

There are also some good pictures of Tim on the Camp website.  I thought he might be jealous if I didn't put any pictures of him up.

For the next few days I'll be slowly packing up all our stuff here.  Of course I have to move home during a heat wave...

Baby Bunnies

Last week when we arrived at Camp after the 4th we were informed that Eva had babies.  This picture was taken when they were about 3 days old.

Now they're about a week old and there are only three of them.  I'm still working on names.  I will tell you that 'Cookie' and 'White Chocolate' will not be featured, no matter how hard a few campers push for them.

Things Tillie has learned at Camp

She's doubled her vocabulary in names - Mama, Dada, Gamma and Kizie to include Liza, Lydia, Asha and Hannah.

Throwing leaves is now fun.

She likes petting bunnies.

She can point out all the animals in the nature center - rats, turtles, snakes, degus, squirrel, frogs and rabbits.

Pudding salad is good.

Throwing sand is fun.  So is putting piles of sand all over your legs and arms.

24 weeks

When I packed for Camp I made sure Tim and Tillie had enough clothes, and then I packed mine.  I ended up with a lot of white t-shirts.  I'm dying for a little color in my life, so I borrowed a necklace from Tillie today.  Yes, I am wearing Gymboree.  We're also going to have a little break from the red wall of my kitchen.  There are a few(just a few) brown walls at Camp, so they will be featured for the next few weeks.

24 weeks marks "viability".  Basically, if I were to go into labor today, they'd try to save the baby after it was born.  Before 24 weeks they don't really do that often.  I definitely want this little to stay in there for quite some time yet, but it's a little milestone that's somewhat reassuring to achieve.

All Moved In

Here's a little photo tour of our apartment at Camp this summer.  We're living in two apartments in the bottom of the Lodge named Pere Marquette and Thornapple.

The covered entrance!

The hallway.  The door on the end leads to the back of another apartment that obviously has another entrance as my drying rack is blocking it.

Here's the living area.  The bunk beds take a little work to get out and the people who will be living here after us may need them, so we just decided to go with it.  Tillie thinks the bottom bunk is fun to play on.  The floor is still wet because my mom mopped them for me.  You can see the new covers I made for our glider rocker.  (It lives in Tim's classroom during the school year.)

The bathroom off the living room has a tub.

There is a counter top in the living room that doubles as my "kitchen sink".

Our bedrooms are in the other apartment. You enter our room first.

We even have a "master bath", AKA Tim's shower.

Then there's Tillie's room.  It also hold two sets of bunk beds, but since she'll only be sleeping in there we decided to leave them and use them for storage.  So far, Tillie's not too fond of her room.  I have to convince her to take her nap and to go to bed at night.

And, that's where we'll be for a little over a month.

Big Girl

We went to an event at Camp last night - Steak Dinner!  It was delicious.  Tillie always eats better at Camp, I have no idea why.  She happily chopped on pears, corn and broccoli.  She hasn't eaten broccoli in months.  She even asked for more of everything.  She was also a fan of the croutons.

Her favorite part?  Coloring with the big kids.

I looked over and was a little surprised to see her just sitting at the table but Kizie said, "Well, she wanted to color so I helped her up."

I like that picture because you can see that Kizie is keeping on hand down to make sure she can catch Tillie if she needs to.  She takes her role as aunt seriously.

It doesn't cute much cuter.

Tillie + Romper My Mom Made For Me As A Baby + Woods = Adorable Beyond Words.
