One Year

We did it!  Teddy is one year old.

Sleep:  Not much has changed.  He goes to bed between 7:15-7:45p and gets up between 6:30-7a.  Lately it's been 6:30 or earlier, but he's just getting over a cold.  At least I'm hoping that's what was causing it.  He actually got up at 4:40 on Tuesday.  Yeah, I'm a little tired over here.  Teddy takes one morning nap around 9:30 or so.  It's usually about an hour long.  On days where we have to take Tillie to preschool he takes a couple cat naps in the morning while we're driving too and from errands.  It's not the best plan, but there's no way of getting around it.  However, it does mean that his afternoon naps have lengthened.  He usually sleeps from 2ish til about 3:30 or so.  Sometimes it's still just an hour.

Size:  His one year appointment is tomorrow, so I'll update his official stats then.  I'm going to guess he's around 19lbs.  I don't think he's gained too much weight in the last three months.  He's definitely taller though.  He's actually outgrowing some 12m rompers and 6-12m pants!  Only because of length though.  In the waist they still fall off.  12-18m pants are fitting better because I can buy them with adjustable waists.  They're cinched in all they can be, but look better than too short and too wide pants.  I'm thankful that skinny jeans are in style right now.  Everything else is still 6-12m.  Since it's getting cooler out I can put socks on him to help bigger shoes fit.  The size 4 shoes I have for him are still too big, but I make him wear them anyway.  Since he's not walking I figure it's okay.  He has 7 teeth in front and I can feel 2 molars coming in on the top.  The 4th bottom tooth would be nice so he didn't looks so lopsided.

Food:  We're still breastfeeding 4 times a day, morning, before morning nap, before afternoon nap and before bed.  If we're out and about during one of those times he's okay if we skip it.  Today he fell asleep on the way home from the zoo so I didn't nurse him until after his 2 hour nap.  He eats all table food.  His favorites are blueberries, grapes, corn puffs, applesauce pouches, scrambled eggs, pumpkin bars, pears and marshmallows.  I know.  Some of those things he get very rarely and only because Tillie does.  He drinks about 2-3oz of whole milk out of a sippy cup a day.  He'll also finish any of Tillie's straw juice cups if he finds them before she finishes them.

Movement:  He's still scooting all over.  He can stand up on his knees in the middle of the room without using his hands to pull/push himself up.  He's close to pulling himself up, but is content to just pull up to his knees currently.  He's getting really good and rolling over while I'm holding him down and changing his diaper.  If we sit him in Tillie's rocking chair he can make it rock.  It's pretty much the cutest thing ever.

Play:  He got a lot of different types of cars for his birthday and he likes driving them all over the house.  He likes pulling the bins off the shelf and then pulling ALL the toys out.  He's sits and "reads" books all. the. time.   He just pages thought them, thoughtfully too.  He will also pull Tillie's dolls out of their cradle and hug them.  He's pokes at their eyes and noses too, but let's focus on the hugs.  Anytime he hears music he will start to dance.  Both of them are actually pretty good(for their ages) at dancing.  That's not from me and Tim...  One of the most random things he's done this month is start using a pacifier.  He was stealing Tillie's every time he was playing on her bed, and it just escalated.  I finally went out and bought him some blue ones because I was worried they were going to start passing colds back and forth from one to the other.  I still don't give it to him for sleeping.  He already sleeps all night and that's what I can't get rid of for Tillie.

Communication:  Ted will nod his head "yes" in reply to questions.  He still consistently uses the signs for more and all done.  He's also added "wind".  That was one of Tillie's favorites too.  He'll wave bye-bye without prompting and sometimes it sounds like he's trying to say it too.  Most of the words he says are only the first syllable.  Ah dah = All done, Mo = More, etc.  The other day he mimicked me barking like a dog when we saw the neighbors.  When he wants to sit on my lap he'll find his blanket (and a nuk if it's nearby) and come to the rocking chair.
