That good, eh?

Last week when we were in Chicago, I had one clothing mission for myself. I wanted a new dress. I tried ordering a dress from Matilda Jane. It was too small. I tried ordering a dress from Shabby Apple. The top was too big and it made me look as large as a barn.

During the end of our glorious shopping day downtown I sent Tillie and Tim to Barnes and Noble so I could shop in peace at Anthropologie.  I was willing to pay full price, but I didn't see anything that caught my eye, so I meandered over to the sales section.  (You can only meander at Antropologie.  There are too many cute things to look at.)

I actually found a few cute dresses I really liked the look of.  The fitting room attendant excitedly exclaimed over one of my choices.  She LOVED the dress and hoped I would too.  So versatile, fun and comfy.  Having worked in retail for a number of years, I can tell when a sales associate is being sincere.  She was.

I eagerly tried on that dress first.  It almost worked, but it was a little tight on top.  (I know, right?  When does that happen.)  I tried on the other three dresses.  They fit, but they just weren't flattering.  I bought them back out and started looking again.  I really wanted a new dress and there were none to be had in Grand Rapids.  There was a rack of new markdowns near the fitting room entrance so I found a few dresses to try on there.

As I was looking, the fitting room attendant came back with a dress she wanted me to try.  She had it, had worn it to Easter and it had just been marked down another $50 that night before.  It was pretty cute, so I said sure.  She explained how great it is because you can wear it as a dress, as a coat or with black leggings or skinny jeans.  All true.

This is the kicker.  She then asked if I had skinny jeans or black leggings.  I guess I looked that unfashionable that I wouldn't have those two staples in my wardrobe.  *sigh*  I do realize that my style has slipped a bit since Tillie was born.

But!  The dress?  It was great on.  And!  She brought me a medium and it fit perfectly.  Thanks to Tillie, that hasn't happened in a while.  I wore it Sunday to church and felt super-cute.  After Tillie was in bed I quick ran to Family Fare and I threw my skinny jeans on underneath it.  Still cute, and almost overdressed for my local grocery store.

I love my new dress.

Oh man, I've always wanted an Anthropologie dress. I did splurge on an apron from them before I was married, and it's one of my favorite items of clothing. One day, one day...
