The girl likes to read. It's in her blood.

Seeing as how my husband is a teacher, I am a former teacher and a lot of our friends are teachers, Tillie lives in a house with a lot of books.  No seriously, a lot.

Last summer, Tim built floor to ceiling bookcases along a wall of the basement.  There are still at least 5 other bookcases around the house.  Not to mention baskets around the living room.  And more books in Tim's classroom.  Yet, we still frequent the library.
These are some of her "baby proof" books.  Most often, the pink bucket is tipped over with books spilling all over the room.  See that Touch and Feel Farm book?  Tillie adores that one.  She reads if often when I'm blow drying my hair.  The dog is her favorite page.

Speaking of dogs, Doggies by Sandra Boynton never fails to make her laugh.  Well, if Tim, my mom or Kizie reads it.  She doesn't care for me reading it.  Which is weird, but I guess I don't make good barking noises.

We've read books to her from the time she came home from the hospital, but at first she didn't respond to them.  She just sat there, happy to be on mom or dad's lap.  The first time I read her When I Have a Little Girl by Charlotte Zolotow she grinned from ear to ear.  It was like she agreed with the book and wanted to do all the things the mommy wouldn't let the little girl do.

I've read Tillie one of Kizie's favorite books from when she was little.  Hondo and Fabian by Peter McCarty is an adorable book with a simple story and sweet illustrations.  Tillie doesn't love it as much as Kizie did, but I'm sure it will be a favorite in time.
This is hardly even the beginning of a list of my favorite books.  Right now we're slightly limited by attention span.  But, I can't wait to read Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, Roxaboxen, Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon, and Elmer.  This hardly scratches the surface of my favorite books.  And, the list is sure to grow and grow.

What book will you pick out today?

All wonderful books! We love ourselves some touch and feel books, too, and you're right. They're the ones that afford me a moment to brush my teeth or re-heat and gobble some leftovers for lunch. Smart girl, linking to the Amazon page for each of your books. Wish I'd thought of that (she says as she goes back through her posts and adds the links...)

Thank you for linking up, friend!

I love Elmer :)

During my children's lit class in college, my favourite series was about a penguin called Tacky (author - Helen Lester)

Ush and I have a ton of books too. I'm not a hoarder, but when it comes to books - that's the one thing I can't give away. Even if its a book I didn't particularly love, I still must keep it.

Oh, I'm in love with Touch and Feel farm books. I pulled it out a few months ago for our then 10 month old. Umm...let me just say, 9 years and 4 children later, it is on it's last leg. But still a favorite!
